Create a Healthy Lunch Contest - Deadline 6/17/12

Create a Healthy and Delicious Recipe, Meet First Lady Michelle Obama
Kids Recipe Contest Deadline Set for This Sunday

Oahu, Hawaii – Attention island keiki! Do you have a special, healthy lunch recipe you’d like to share with First Lady Michelle Obama?  Show your culinary stuff and enter the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. A winning young chef from each state will be selected and flown to Washington, DC to attend a kids’ “State Dinner” at the White House this August. The deadline to enter is this Sunday, June 17th, so don’t delay!

The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge is sponsored by the White House’s Let’s Move! campaign, Epicurious, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“Kula strawberries, Kona oranges, luscious Manoa lettuce. These are just some of the tasty fruits and veggies that can be featured in a lunch that gives Mrs. Obama a taste of the islands,” said Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono (HI-02). “The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge is a great way for us to see who the next Roy Yamaguchi or Alan Wong will be!”

Keiki must be between the ages of 8-12 to participate. Submissions will be accepted via email and traditional mail through June 17th.
